Actors/singers required for a musical:
Based on true events, a story that should focus on the state of journalism in this country, instead largely focuses on a 21 year old man trying to get a snog, from a work colleague who turns out to be a undercover reporter, from the tv.
Using elements of rock opera, slow rapping, as many rhyming couplets as you can shake a stick at and mild swearing; “I Assumed When You Said Undercover You Meant…” [working title] is an alternative musical scaling the fine line between fine art and theatre. A story about love, undercover journalism and Chelmsford.
Whilst the songs have been written in a musical style, the staging will compromise of elements of projection, video installation and sculpture juxtaposing the music the scenes will be based around. The cast will be small, led by artist, Adam Jones, who is also writing and directing the play, playing himself, there is casting opportunities for:
A Strong Male Aged between 30-50; needs to have a big voice, with leads in two important numbers.
A Female Lead, blond hair, in her twenties; lead female, agent provocateur, plays quite dumb towards Adam whilst actually being highly intelligent.
2 Chorus Members; take part in most songs, always on stage, the chorus members are revealed as spies themselves towards the end of the play.

The musical is being produced for the Kingston University Fine Art degree show as my final piece. Preliminarily there will be two performances on Saturday 16th June as well as a dress rehearsal used for assessment and a video recording, which will be used for presentation of the piece during the rest of the Degree Show. A cast audio recording is also due to be made, to be given away during the show.
At the moment the work is unfortunately unpaid, I have no funding for the piece. I would like to think that it would be an interesting experience, working with an artist to create a musical and of course all media produced can freely be put into your portfolio.
